ABOUT PIONEER ARABIANS
Pioneer Arabians is a combined joint venture of our two favourite interests; breeding Arabian horses as Pioneer Park Arabians and training of endurance horses as Pioneer Endurance. We are committed to breeding and raising endurance horses for both our & your future, and believe that our horses should not only be tough and strong and sound for a performance career in endurance, but that they should be pretty enough to show as well.
Melissa Longhurst has been training and competing in endurance riding for over
15 years with a very high ride completion rate including multiple wins
and Best Conditioned- Fittest Horse awards to her credit.Melissa is passionate about the longer distance rides, the ‘one hundred milers’ and multi day marathons and has successfully competed at many of these events which include the Far-a-way, Pioneer Trek and Shahzada marathons plus holds 4 Tom Quilty Buckles.
A dedicated and compassionate rider, Melissa trains the horses daily and tailers the training to suit the horses thus ensuring to obtain each individual's optimal potential; and is adamant in preparing athletic horses that last – proof with Narmond Silver Gift who was still competing, enjoying and winning 80km events the age of 18. Melissa and her horse Silver are also proudly a recognised “Decade Team”, which are one horse / one rider combination competing at least one open endurance ride per year for 10 years.

Stephen Longhurst has been competing in endurance for over 10 years and has completed over 5000 km also with numerous placing’s and Best Conditioned awards many of which obtained with his now exported mare, Pharslee Amani.
Steve is a committed super strapper during the more demanding rides, with attention to the smallest detail. His main focus is to nurturing the less experienced horses through Novice Endurance horse status, ensuring they learn good track manners, vetting etiquette and importantly how to pace themselves.

Pioneer Endurance Arabians is situated at Finch Hatton, nestled at the foothills of the mountains in the beautiful picturesque Pioneer Valley, 60 km from the central Queensland coastal town of Mackay. Both our farm and training country covers undulating to hilly areas of which we believe is ideal for raising and training endurance horses.
